THE THIRD ANNUAL MEETING OF THE PROJECT “MOLDOVA HIGHER EDUCATION LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT” -MHELM
On OCTOBER 19, 2022, the members of the project consortium met to discuss the progress made within the project during 3 years since its beginning, as well as how to carry out activities in the future.
The EU funded project “MOLDOVA HIGHER EDUCATION LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT-MHELM”, reference number: 609656-EPP-1-2019-1-MD-EPPKA2-CBHE-SP, is coordinated by the Technical University of Moldova. The project aims to strengthen governance, strategic planning and management in Moldovan universities to support reforms in the sector by enhancing leadership and management capabilities.
The project consortium consists of 11 partners: 3 from the European Union (United Kingdom, Germany and Romania) and 8 from Moldova representing HEIs and the Ministry of Education and Research.
The meeting was dedicated to the presentation of the results obtained in the 3rd year of implementation and the planning of future activities to achieve the set objectives.
The event was opened and moderated by Ms Larisa BUGAIAN, project coordinator, who summarized the key activities of the project and presented the aggregated results, carried out during the reporting period.
In her welcome speech, the representative of the MEC of Moldova, Doina USACI, Head, Directorate for Higher Education Policy, underlined the importance of the MHELM project in the further reform of the HE sector in Moldova and spoke about the MEC initiative to create a National Centre for Education and Leadership that would contribute to the training and development of teachers and managers oh HEIs.
Claudia Melinte, coordinator of the Erasmus+ National Office in Moldova, highlited the contribution and relevance of the MHELM project. In her speech she also outlined the importance of these kind of meetings, which are aimed at identifying risks and problems that may arise during the implementation of activities in order to prevent and overcome them.
David Dowson, leadership expert at UoG University, in his comprehensive presentation, reported the activities of the EU partner universities in the MHELM project. He also appreciated the results of the project, the responsible approach and the impact of MHELM on the transformation of the higher education sector in Moldova.
During the consortium meeting, Alice Buzdugan, ISOP, spoke about quality assurance in the project, the quality of cooperation between partners and presented the results of beneficiary feedback surveys for each trained group.
The presentations of the institutional coordinators were mainly focused on the implementation of the new Leadership and Management programme which concerns the training of institutional managers in the partner universities, Work Package 2.3.
The institutional coordinators (Angela NICULIȚA-SUM; Ala COTELNIC-AESM; Evelina GHERGHELEGIU-SUMF; Elena SCRIPNIC-SAUM; Valentina PRITCAN-USARB; IRINA TODOS-USC, Larisa BUGAIAN-TUM) presented the results of the Leadership & Management training of the 2 groups of beneficiaries, the challenges they faced during the implementation, but also the steps to be taken in order to reach all the set targets.
During this session, Cristina DIACONU, TUM spoke about the importance of dissemination to ensure the visibility of the project and presented the aggregated information on the methods, techniques and DEOR (Dissemination and Exploitation of Results) tools used in the MHELM project.
At the end, the key moments of the 3rd year of activity were summerized and future actions were set to ensure the sustainability of the project.
